The current poly crisis has become the biggest challenge in history for the entire hospitality and tourism industry. At the same time it provides the greatest opportunity for the hospitality and tourism industry to change and adapt in order to deploy changes to the organisation, processes, offers or even business models to become more resilient and sustainable than ever before.

The severe measures of the pandemic, the rising inflation, skyrocketing cost of energy and supply as well as staff shortage and rising salaries have put enormous pressure on the management of any hospitality and tourism business. The situation will soon have a significant impact on source markets and travel demand, occupancy, RevPar and ADR. The economic sustainability of any business is at stake and any business should take this opportunity.

Thomas is an entrepreneur with more than 40 years of experience in IT and more than 20 years in digital marketing and technology in the global hospitality and tourism industry. He has worked for companies such as IBM, (Mannesmann Mobilfunk) Vodafone, TUI, and Thomas Cook, among others, and has been a part of the opening of four hotels, the turnaround of two hotels, and the establishment of two other tourism businesses. He started rainmaker travel as a TravelTech company in Namibia in 2016 to assist the many emerging, small, medium, and independent hospitality and tourism
businesses in Africa. He has had the opportunity of working and live in eight countries around the globe, and for 11 years, Namibia has been his home. Nambia moved its head office to Cape Town in 2020.
His passion is to democratize technology for destinations, hospitality, and tourism spending in order to keep more tourism dollars in the destination for long-term development. For the extraordinary achievements of the five stages of success and the destination network open platform
and ecosystem, rainmaker was honored with several awards in Europe, the USA, and Africa.
